Senior .NET Developer
Founded to change billions of lives, Ding is currently the fastest growing consumer tech company of scale in Ireland.
76% of the world’s five billion mobile phones are prepaid and a quarter of those are out of top-up. Lack of mobile access holds everything back. Families can’t stay connected, knowledge isn't shared, and new forms of e-commerce can’t be taken advantage of and therefore take longer to develop. This holds countries back, slowing economic development and curtailing living standards
We have built the largest international mobile top-up platform that makes transferring top-up as frictionless as possible. We created the category which has given us unparalleled experience and have invested (and continue to do so) more than anyone else in improving the user experience
We’re looking for a talented technology enthusiast, a puzzle solver, with leadership qualities, who can learn our tools quickly and hey maybe you can suggest some new ones to us too! The role will see you immersed in a team of .NET developers, interacting with other teams in Bucharest and Dublin offices such as Product, QA and DBA to name just a few. You’ll perform hands on development with our exciting technology stack and play a key part in the design and decision making process.
While the role is hands-on from a coding perspective, there’s also a strong emphasis on being involved with enhancing design, technical standards, improving the development process and the ongoing investigation around new technologies.
What will you do day to day?
- Building out web-scale applications and platforms using modern .NET technology
- Working with the latest platforms and tooling including VS2017/2019 and .NET 4.6.1
- Being part of a highly effective team using Kanban methodologies
- Work with exciting Microsoft and Open Source technologies (Redis, RabbitMQ, Specflow, StructureMap and nHibernate)
What are we looking for?
- At least 5 years commercial experience in a backend software developer role
- Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server and Visual studio
- Experience in best practices in application development; including Agile Development, Continuous Integration and Test Driven Development.
- Knowledge of modern technology concepts; best practices and patterns including API first development and HTTP technologies
- And if you have experience in any of the following; Redis, RabbitMQ, Specflow, nHibernate, REST, NUnit, Autofixture, StructureMap, that would be great but it’s not essential
- the ability to put the user first
- Someone who is not afraid of challenging projects and is open to looking at new ways to resolve them
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a willingness to support and mentor other team members.
- You enjoy the thought of being able to work in a rapidly expanding company and are comfortable working on your own initiative as well as collaborating in a team
What it’s like working here?
No two days are ever the same at Ding. We put an emphasis on results, not politics because let’s be honest, that’s what we all prefer. True team players are the norm with a fun vibe and a genuine willingness to help out their colleagues.
Ding pretty soon becomes your second family (not your second home…..we don’t want you here all the time!). We don’t just care about the skills you bring with you to the table or what you achieve for the Company. We do actually care about you. Hence everyone here isn’t treated like a number. We take the time to get to know you and what makes you tick.
We’re all about you owning your own development. Just because you’re currently on the Product team doesn’t mean you can’t join the Online Marketing team next week. In fact someone already did. You figure out where you want to take your career and we do our best to get you there.
Working with us
The work we all do here at Ding is interesting. Ask the Tech bunch….they are constantly challenged by in-house development and complex technology. We’ve created the market in which we operate so that means we regularly come across challenges that we’ve never seen before. That’s why having people who can think on their feet and enjoy problem solving is so important to us.
Everyone is approachable no matter if they’re a recent grad or a C-Level member. You can grab anyone and pop to the Top-Up bar for a coffee and run an idea past them, pick their brains or just have a catch up about your weekend.
New products, revenue milestones, birthdays, work anniversaries, weddings…………these are just some of the reasons for Ding celebrations. Be prepared to have a bit of fun here.
But your time outside of Ding is important too. Everyone needs to have a life outside work. So if you’re off for dinner before the box office smash hit, want to get a spin class in before work, need to get out to see your kid’s school play then that’s what the flexible working hours are all about. It’s an honour system. There’s no clocking in and out. We’re grown-ups after all so we trust you’re not gonna muck it up for your team mates.
Our biggest team here at Ding is our tech team, made up of 66 individuals. They spend their days building systems that are visible globally. Our engineering process focuses on continuous integration, test and delivery with an emphasis on frequent releases, but always maintaining quality. You not only get to work with up to date and complex technology but you’ve the opportunity to work with more than 1.3 million lines of active code. And if that wasn’t attractive enough we’ve recently transitioned to Kanban so there never has been a better time to join the Tech team.
